Alice Marie Kurth, 98 , formerly of Neillsville, passed away January 18, 2013, in Weston, WI at the home of her niece.
Alice was born September 24, 1914, in Greenwood, WI, to John and Julie Scharenbrook, the seventh child of eight children and also an identical twin. After moving to Chicago, she married Herbert Kurth on June 18, 1938. They lived in Chicago, Sauk City and then made their home in Neillsville. Together they enjoyed their cottage, traveling and their many nieces and nephews. She worked 26 years at Auto Test in Neillsville until she retired. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and baking which she shared with her family. She loved playing cards, dancing and listening to polka music.
Alice was a long time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and received an award for being one of the oldest members of the parish in 2011.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her special buddy, Corbin.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Julia, her brothers, John and Andrew, her sisters, Anne, Marie, Betty, Marcella her twin, and Julia. Her loving husband of 65 years Herbert
Her devotion and kindness for others are traits we will all remember. "As we say goodbye, as tears roll from our eyes, we know you have a place in heaven".
The Mass of Christian Burial for Alice will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. The celebrant will be Fr. Varkey V. Joseph. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist and St. Mary's Choir. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26th at the Catholic Church.
Pall Bearers are: Jason Mauritz, Nick Rueth, LaVerne Gregorich Jr., David Dann, Andrew Opelt and Eric Opelt.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Masses of Remembrance.
