Randy McKevitt, age 66, of Washington D.C., died suddenly Wednesday, November 28, 2018 in Washington D.C.

 

Randy Alan McKevitt was born on February 24, 1952 to Larry and Ramona “Mona” (Holmgreen) McKevitt, while his Dad was a Captain in the United States Army. He grew up in Fremont, WI, where he was an Eagle Scout at the age of 16. In 1970, he and his family moved to Neillsville and Randy graduated from Neillsville High School in 1971. He attended Northern Michigan University on an ROTC scholarship, graduated in the spring of 1975 and was commissioned in the United States Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. While in the Army he served in Germany, New Hampshire, California, Colorado and Georgia to name a few. He became a Green Beret and was a member of the Army Special Forces Paratroopers. Randy retired from the Army as a Captain in 1994. He then attended Tulane University and graduated with a law degree in 1998. He passed the bar exam in Minnesota and became a lawyer for the V.A. in Washington D.C. in 2002, retiring in 2016.

 

Randy loved the outdoors, was an avid Green Bay Packer fan, had a great sense of humor and was warm and caring. He will be deeply missed by family and friends and anyone who knew him.

 

He is survived by two brothers, Brian (Becky) McKevitt of Neillsville, WI and Craig McKevitt of Washington D.C, a nephew, Jacob McKevitt of Baraboo, WI, a niece, Katie McKevitt and her children, Adelyn, Elliot and Ensley of Neillsville, WI. He is further survived by a cousin, James (Deb) McCauley of Owen, WI and their children, Tim (Shelby) McCauley of Neenah, WI, Sean (Tawna) McCauley of Oshkosh, WI and Jason (Hillary) McCauley of Onalaska, WI, a cousin, Shawn Hammond and her children, Gabriella and Marcus all of Milwaukee, WI and a cousin, Shannon (Robert) Racic and their children, Tyler and Hunter all of Bowling Brook, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ron and Reggie.
