Mary passed away peacefully at home on February 20, 2026 surrounded by her family. Mary was born February 21, 1947 in Neillsville, WI. She grew up on the family farm in the town of Levis and attended her early schooling at a one room school house.

Mary attended high school and college at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. She loved her time in the dorms and made two of her lifelong friends there, Shannon and Diana.

She graduated in 1969 with a degree in Elementary Education and her first teaching job was in Lewiston, MN.

Mary's next teaching job took her to Denver. Her time in Denver was filled with backpacking, ski trips, and concerts. This is also where she met her lifelong friend, Sherry. The biggest highlight of her time here was meeting her husband, Larry, on the bus of their ski club. They started their family in Denver, with Kristin and Melissa.

In 1987, Mary and her family moved back to Wisconsin. Jessica was born, completing the family. The family lived in several cities in Wisconsin before moving back to Mary's hometown in 1995.

Mary worked a variety of jobs - Pizza Hut, Leeson, home health - and her main priority was whatever job could allow her to spend the most time as possible with her family. She was an incredibly hard worker and took pride in whatever she did.

Mary was a lifelong learner, always seeking to broaden her horizons. She returned to school and became a registered nurse at age 59. Mary worked in long term care right until she got sick in November. She was well liked by coworkers, residents, and their families for her dedication and caring.

Above all, Mary's biggest love and devotion was for her family. Her unconditional love and support showed through her thoughtful gifts and traditions for all holidays (homemade cookies and cards for Valentine's Day, Easter baskets, St. Nick's, Christmas stockings), endless sports games she attended cheering on her daughters (even though she was not a sports fan!), and encouraging cards and messages.

She loved being a Nana and continuing traditions with her grandchildren. Mary was known for keeping busy and had many hobbies. She loved gardening, kayaking, spending time at the family farm, finding a good deal (she was a regular at the Neillsville thrift shop), and consistently donating blood (more than 10 gallons!).

Mary was interested in her family history and went to Germany in 2017 with Larry to spend time with Mary's family there. She loved researching and maintaining her Victorian home.

Mary's faith was very important to her and a source of strength, values, and community. She belonged to a church throughout her entire life, most recently Zion Lutheran in Granton. Mary will be remembered for her kind nature, generous spirit, and making all feel welcome. She maintained her hope, optimism, and humor until the very end.

Mary is survived by her husband of almost 45 years, Larry; daughters Kristin (Adam) of Casco; Melissa, Milwaukee; Jessica, Milwaukee; grandchildren Maya, Augustus, Corbin, and Felicity; nieces and nephews; and pets at home and at the farm.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Wilhelm and Virginia Meyer; brothers Samuel MacGregor, John MacGregor, and David Meyer; sister Sharon MacGregor; and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Clark County Humane Society or your local shelter-Mary was always an animal lover.

Funeral Services for Mary will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2026, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Granton. Pastor Daniel Schoessow will officiate. Music will be provided by Alexandria Bochte, soloist and Caroline Helm, organist. Interment will be in the Dells Dam Cemetery south of Neillsville.
