Madison, Wisconsin

Lucille Elizabeth Krohn, 95, of Madison, Wisconsin, formerly of Neillsville, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madison.

Lucille was born on December 21, 1930, in Round Lake, Illinois, to the late Joseph and Margaret (Stoffel) Jung. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Woodstock, Illinois and went on to pursue nursing, earning her Registered Nurse (RN) degree from St. Therese Hospital - School of Nursing, in Waukegan, Illinois, in August of 1951.

On October 25, 1952, Lucille married Clifford Krohn in Woodstock, Illinois. Lucille and Clifford made their home in Woodstock, IL for 26 years before moving to the Neillsville-Granton area in Wisconsin in 1978. Lucille and Clifford were married for 54 years, celebrating their 50th Anniversary in 2002, and had seven children.

Lucille was a dedicated and compassionate nurse for more than 43 years, serving in a variety of nursing roles in hospitals and nursing homes. Her most recent position was as a Registered Nurse at Neillsville Memorial Home, where she worked for 14.5 years before retiring in December 1995. Nursing was more than a profession for Lucille; it was a lifelong calling. Family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who walked through her door knew they could count on her for caring advice, a listening ear, and practical guidance.

Lucille was devoted to her family and took great pride in her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She had a lifelong love of flowers and was an avid reader who kept her mind active with games, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles. Lucille also loved to crochet and created baby blankets for each and every one of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A loyal Chicago Cubs fan throughout her life, she remained a fan during the losing seasons and celebrated the team's long-awaited World Series victory in 2016. Lucille was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville.

She is survived by her children, Judy Krohn of Madison, WI, Jane Sprengelmeyer of Neillsville, WI, Thomas (Darcey) Krohn of Owen, WI, Jack Krohn of Granton, WI, Helen (Roy) Rueth of Unity, WI, and Ann Krohn of San Jose, CA. Lucille is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, her sister, Viola Huff, and daughter-in-law Sue Krohn of DeRidder, LA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Margaret; husband, Clifford; son, Toby; and siblings, Marcella (Robert) Weidner, Donald (Patricia) Jung, and Robert (Sandra) Jung.

Lucille spent the last five years of her life as a resident at Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madison, Wisconsin. She enjoyed attending weekly bingo, playing games on her iPad, and staying connected with family through email and video chats. Even in retirement, nursing remained close to her heart. She loved sharing stories from her career and was always willing to offer encouragement and wisdom to members of the nursing staff. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of Madison Health and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness, friendship, and loving care they provided to Lucille during her time there. The family would also like to express gratitude to the staff of Agrace Hospice Care, especially her nurse, Mo Williams, for her compassionate care and support.
