Kevin "Kabbage" D. Opelt

Kevin D. "Kabbage" Opelt, age 56, of Neillsville, WI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at his residence on State Street.

Kevin Duane Opelt was born on September 14, 1969, in Neillsville, WI, the son of Douglas and Joyce (Garbisch) Opelt. He grew up in the Granton area and graduated from Granton High School in 1988.

Following high school, Kevin worked hard in a variety of jobs, including laboring in the cranberry marshes and working on road construction crews. Most recently, he was employed by Opelt Sand and Gravel in Neillsville until his health forced him to retire.

Kevin enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting. He loved hunting with his hound dogs and also enjoyed bow hunting. Whether out in the woods or spending time with family and friends, Kevin appreciated the simple things in life and the memories created along the way.

He is survived by his mother, Joyce Opelt of Marshfield, WI; his brothers, Brian Opelt and Greg Opelt, both of Granton, WI; his sister, Wendy (Chuck) Green of Marshfield, WI; nieces, Jordan (Braden) Bohman and Amber (Brandon) Grubba; nephews, Max and Brock Opelt; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Opelt, his grandparents, Max and Irene (Crockett) Opelt, and Arnold and Gertrude (Helm) Garbisch.

Kabbage's Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Chili Corners, W894 US Highway 10, Chili, WI 54420.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Jake Lipscy, Randy Mohr, Ron Riedel, Mike Opelt, Scott Opelt, Scott Winkler, Max Opelt and Brock Opelt.
