Joe was born on October 7, 1953, in Neillsville, Wisconsin, to Dwayne and Annette (Erfurth) Felser. He graduated from Neillsville High School in 1972. During his high school years, he worked detailing cars at Gross Motors. After graduation, he began his career driving dump truck for Plautz Bros., later working as a mechanic at Svetlik Ford.
On January 26, 1974, Joe was united in marriage to Marjorie A. Lautenbach. He went on to drive semi over-the-road, eventually becoming an owner/operator in the 1980s. In 1987, he began working for Mathy Construction as a dump truck driver, later working for Boon Construction, and eventually becoming a heavy equipment operator with Milestone Materials. Joe was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139.
Joe had a lifelong passion for working on cars and was especially knowledgeable about the muscle car era. He also had a deep love for rescuing dogs, particularly senior and hard-luck animals, which held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A Memorial Service for Joe will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with Pastor Bob Garbisch officiating.
