Gloria Frances Wirkuty

Gloria Wirkuty, age 90, of Neillsville, WI, died Monday, August 17, 2026, at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI.

Gloria Frances Gregory was born on September 9, 1935, in Racine, WI, the daughter of Franklin and Martha (Polzin) Gregory. She graduated from Park High School in Racine and was united in marriage to Leland "Lee" Wirkuty on March 17, 1956, in Indiana. They made their home in Racine, where Gloria devoted herself to raising their family and caring for their home. When Lee retired in 1992, they moved to Neillsville.

Gloria enjoyed traveling and taking family vacations. She also enjoyed fishing, trips to the casino to play the slot machines, and an occasional game of bingo. When football season arrived, Gloria was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

She is survived by three children, Steven (Anne) Wirkuty of Hebron, IL, Brian Wirkuty of Janesville, WI, and Cheryl Friedemann of Neillsville, WI; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Wiersum of Racine, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Lee, in 2021; a daughter, Debra Wirkuty; her parents; sisters, Helen (Eugene) Ireland, Arlene (Owen) Haigh, Myra Strouse, and May (Jake) Mycon; brothers, Franklin (Arlene) Gregory and Milton (Joan) Gregory; and a brother-in-law, Roger Wiersum.

A Celebration of Life for Gloria will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.
