Arnold "Doc" Fred WesenbergArnold "Doc" Wesenberg, age 75, of Granton, died on Monday, August 6, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.Doc was born on August 1, 1937 to Fred and Vera (Sternitzky) in the town of Lynn. He grew up on the family farm, where he enjoyed the music of Doc Hopkins whom he would listen to every chance he had, thus giving him the nickname Doc. Doc attended school at Mayflower Elementary and Granton Area School where he graduated in 1956. He played softball, basketball and baseball as a young adult. He shared his love for baseball and the St. Louis Cardinals with his family. He met Marlene Rollins and they married in 1958, and then settled on a farm not far from where he grew up. They had 3 children; Cindy, Sandra, and Keith. While married he worked various jobs; Roddis Plywood and Rollohome both of Marshfield, he was a milk can hauler for Lynn Dairy and then settled in at Port Edwards (Georgia Pacific) Paper Mill where he worked for 34 years. Carolyn had a daughter; Suzanne. Doc and Carolyn then had a daughter; Tammy. They all lived on Doc's farm until 1981 when they built their current house just down the road on their 80 acres. They often were bowling or playing softball in leagues in Lynn, Chili and Granton, when the children were growing up it was often a family outing to go to watch softball many times a week. As a family they played many Granton Family Feud Tournaments. Doc shared his love for hunting, golfing and playing cards with all of his children and grandchildren. He would often be seen golfing with his two youngest grandchildren at the Neillsville Country Club, until his diagnosis forced him to be a spectator. He was not above taking money from his kids and grandkids during an afternoon of shephead. He also enjoyed watching his many "pets" (deer, birds, raccoons, etc...) coming in from the woods for their daily "treats" he would leave them.
