Edward W. Schoen, age 89, of Neillsville, WI died on Monday, November 19, 2012 at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.Edward Willard Schoen was born on September 26, 1923 in the township of Levis to Henry B and Minnie (Utecht) Schoen. He was united in marriage to Grace Winter on November 22, 1951. In his early years he worked at a cranberry marsh and then farmed in the Town of Levis till he retired in 1979. Ed served as Town of Levis Supervisor for 12 years and then 12 years as the Town Chairman. Ed also was the director of the Farmers Union Co-op for 9 years. Ed enjoyed many years of fishing, hunting and wintering in Texas with many friends.Ed is survived by his wife, Grace, and 6 children, Linda (Gary) Miller, Edward (Rise`) Schoen, Patricia (Tom) Drangstveit, Connie (Wayne) Opelt, all of Neillsville, Larry (Kris) Schoen of Fall Creek and Kevin (Sheena) Schoen, of Neillsville, 17 Grandchildren and 8 Great Grandchildren. Ed is further survived by sisters, Eleanor Neville of Eau Claire, WI and Lou Hainz of Neillsville, WI. They are also greatly anticipating the birth of another grandchild and a great grandchild.He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charles, Henry and John, two sisters, Catherine and Betty, and Grandchildren Randy and Bethany. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 23, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Neillsville. Rev. Varkey V. Joseph will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist and St. Mary's Choir. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Gesche Funeral Home, Neillsville, WI on Friday, November 23, 2012 before the service at the church.Honorary casket bearers will be Dan and Austin Schoen.Serving as casket bearers for Ed will be Matthew Miller, John Schoen, Robert Schoen, , Brandon Bertz, Ethan Schoen and Jeffrey Opelt.In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed for Masses for Edward.Online Condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.
