Lura O Genteman

Lura Genteman, age 93, of Neillsville, WI, died on Sunday, April 13, 2014 with her family by her side at the Neillsville Care and Rehabilitation Center.Lura Orpha Genteman was born on March 1, 1921 in the town of Weston, Clark County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Claude and Charlottie (Asplin) Mills. She attended the Christie Country School and graduated from Neillsville High School in 1939. She was united in marriage to William R. Genteman on August 10, 1939 in Waukon, Iowa. Together they farmed in the town of York for 32 years. Later they were in partnership with a daughter and son-in-law in the Chili IGA business. Lura then went to work as a nurse's assistant at the Marshfield Care Center until she retired in 1981. She loved to play bingo and travel. Lura was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Chili.She is survived by 6 children, Bonnie (Francis) Langreck of Granton, WI, Betty Berlick of Marshfield, WI, Barbara (Bill) Lucas of Willard, WI , William Genteman Jr. of Pewaukee, WI, Larry Genteman of Chili, WI and Vern (Cathy) Genteman of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, 19 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 16 great great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Deloris Genteman of Marshfield, WI.Lura was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters, 5 brothers, her husband, William in 2002, 2 grandchildren, Marilyn and Tom, a son-in-law, David Berlick, 2 grandson-in-laws, Mike & Patrick.Funeral services for Lura will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church in Chili. Pastor Daniel Schoessow will officiate. Providing music will be Caroline Helm, organist. Interment will be in Neillsville City Cemetery.
