John F. Zimmerman, age 69, of Neillsville, WI died on Thursday, May 08, 2014 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI.John Francis Zimmerman was born on July 13, 1944 in Black River Falls, WI the son of Edward and Barbara Zimmerman. He attended school in Fairchild. He then worked making palettes until he got a job with General Motors in Janesville. John worked on the assembly line with GM for 30 years. He was united in marriage to Verna Louise Stiemke on May 18, 1973 in Janesville, WI. After John retired, March 1, 1994, they moved back to the home farm in Neillsville across from the Silver Dome where they met. They farmed, raising beef cattle and had some horses. John loved hunting and playing cards. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe and served as an usher and took great pride in mowing the church and cemetery yards.He is survived by his wife, Verna, 3 brothers, Lawrence (Lydia) Zimmerman of Milwaukee, WI, Bernard (Barbara) Zimmerman of Janesville, WI and Leonard Zimmerman of Fairchild, 2 sisters, Beatrice Zimmerman of Milwaukee and Margaret Wampole of Fairchild.John was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Allen and Robert.A graveside service will be held for John at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery in Globe.
