Bertie F. Schultz, age 101, of Neillsville, WI died on Monday, October 6, 2014 at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, WI.Bertie Fred Schultz was born on September 25, 1913 in the Township of Hewett in Clark County, WI the son of Herman and Lottie (Wiesner) Schultz. He attended area schools and was confirmed at the Cannonville Church. At a very young age he learned the roofing trade and was very proud to have roofed his entire life. On November 25, 1940 he was united in marriage to Dolly Klueckmann in Waukon, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Weston Township for 26 years. In 1966 they moved to the Hewett Township and in 2010 they sold their home and moved into Neillsville. In their earlier years they loved to go snowmobiling and going to car races, especially taking their grandchildren to the Golden Sands Speedway. Bertie liked to spend time outside making wood and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved to garden and spent many hours working on their yard. He also liked to get together with friends and play cards. He was a member of the Christie Country Snowmobile Riders, Hatfield Sportsman's Club, he was on the Hewett Township Board and served as an usher and volunteer at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville where he was a member. He is survived by one daughter, Joan Zickert of Neillsville, 2 grandchildren, Greg (Doreen) Zickert of Neillsville and Dawn (Brent) Elwood of Amery, WI, and 3 great grandchildren, Malory Zickert, Tayler and Katherine Elwood.Bertie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Dolly on May 27, 2012, 3 brothers, Harvey, Archie "Butch" and Victor and a sister, Emma Sester.Funeral Services for Bertie will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor Jacoba Koppert will officiate. Providing music will be Eileen Zank, organist. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday morning at the church. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.Online Condolences may be made at www.geschefh.com.
